The Knowledge Debate (2018)
Acrylic on canvas
18 x 24 inches
The debate surrounding digital progression and traditional media surfaces daily with every new technological development. Robin Sloan’s novel Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore describes the relationship by stating “We call it OK. Old Knowledge, OK. […] Where’s the OK? Well, it’s in old books for one thing, and it’s also in people’s heads, a lot of traditional knowledge, that’s what we call TK. OK and TK. Imagine if we could make all that OK and TK available all the time to everyone. On the web, on your phone. No question would ever go unanswered again.” This piece describes a necessary merged relationship between the two, highlighting both the power dynamic that exists, and the atmospheric comfort learning through both methods can bring.
